Wondi Ali, born in Nagele Borana, Ethiopia, found refuge in Portland, OR, escaping the horrors of civil war with his family 2001. Soccer, a pivotal part of his upbringing, became a transformative journey, teaching him passion, relationships, character, leadership, and respect. Transitioning from Sunday leagues to earning the Rookie of the Year Award at Cascade College, Wondi's prowess led him to the semi-pro Cascade Surge team in Salem, OR. Despite familial financial struggles, he pursued his soccer dream, shaping his belief in unity and opportunity. This journey inspired the creation of Unity Futbol Training, aiming to uplift communities through meaningful sporting, fitness, wellness, and life education experiences.

Director/Coach Scott Middleton, a product of Oregon, fell in love with soccer after being inspired by the Portland Timbers during exhibition in his hometown, North Bend. His dedication led him to excel in the Olympic development program, representing Oregon, and earning a scholarship at Oregon State University. After college, Middleton spent years playing in Europe until returning back Portland, OR. Transitioning to coaching with Unity Futbol Training, he aims to give back by providing affordable opportunities for youth to play soccer and instilling diverse perspectives on the high level of the game.
Chaltu Tusse has lived in Portland Oregon since moving from Ethiopia at a young age. She is a registered nurse and entrepreneur who enjoys mentoring young individuals. As a first generation Ethiopian American, she is passionate about providing young children the opportunities to succeed by creating communities where they can be inspired and have the resources for their passions to grow. Chaltu has been volunteering and working with youth for over six years in various leadership and mentoring roles. As a nuero-trauma nurse, Chaltu has been driven by compassion and her love for the field of medicine to be an educator, an advocate and a calm leader in times of pressure. As a business woman and director, she employs and manages teams, coordinates, provide for clients, and works with dozens of community resources.
Tirusew Belayneh, born and raised in Ethiopia, migrated to Porland, OR with his immediate family as a teenager. Tirusew grew up watching and imitating his father play soccer in Ethiopia. That is when he knew soccer was going to be part of his life. Since then, Tirusew played for over 20 years and served as a coach in various tournaments throughout the U.S for a local community soccer club in Portland. After spending many years playing through his education careers and beyond, learning new things and passing them on is a great joy for Tirusew. He says that education has brought him the appreciation of being a lifelong learner and community leader.
Joy Mulumba brings his expertise in nonprofit work and communication to Unity Futbol Training to help grow our community and resources. Mulumba is a manager for the African Family Holistic Health Organization (AFFHO). He is a passionate advocate for mental health, particularly for African men. He has Masters in English and seven years of experience in the field of health care.
